Hello from Barbour County, where we traded the snow for rain and flooding.
Tacy Community Association will be having a breakfast fundraiser on Feb. 8 from 7 a.m – noon. Menu consists of buckwheat cakes, pancakes, sausage, biscuits and gravy. There will be a cost for adults, and for children ages 6-10. Children age 5 and under are free.
There will be a 4-H Bingo at the Philip Barbour High School cafeteria on Feb. 8 beginning at 2 p.m. For more information, call 304-457-3254.
Sunday Art Workshop will be held at the Belington Golden Rule on Feb. 9 from 12-2 p.m. For $10, children can learn art and create valentines cards.
Feb. 11 will be Homeschool Skate Day at Skatezone in Belington from 1-3 p.m. There is a cost for admission and skate rental.
Girl Scout Troop #10007 will be hosting a Valentines dance on Feb. 15 from 6-9 p.m. above the city hall in Belington. Kids ages 9 and up are welcome. There will be a cost for single adults and for couples. Refreshments will be provided. There will be a musical chair contest and a dance off. Girl Scout cookies will also be available for purchase.
There will be a First Annual Donkey Basketball Game at Belington Middle School on Feb. 21. Doors open at 6 p.m. Advance tickets are available and tickets will be sold at the door. They are looking for members of the fire departments, police and emergency personnel to participate. Free donkey rides will be given to the children at halftime. Concessions will also be available.
Looking ahead, Belington Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting their Spring Money Mania & Gun Bash on March 8. Doors open at noon. Drawings will be from 2-6 p.m. Lunch is provided by Smoke Holler BBQ and will be served from 1-4 p.m. Tickets can be purchased from any fire dept member or online at BelingtonFire.com.
Also, Battler’s Knob will be hosting another ladies night out on March 13. Doors will open at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets will include dinner, prizes and a lot of fun. For more information, contact Cheri at 304-613-7180 or Cierra at 304-621-3776.
